Router-CIM Pocketing

There are several pocketing cycles in Router-CIM, each with its own specific feature set, designed for the different types of pocketing that you may run into during machining of parts on your machine tool.

First and foremost, pocketing is a roughing cycle.  It is meant to remove a large amount of material and has parameters for how much material to leave for finishing cycles.  As a roughing cycle, there is no Cutter Compensation allowed in pocketing.  There are several times while cutting shapes, some you will see here, that the tool is cutting to the right of a shape and the left of the shape during the same cut.  For this reason, there can be no cutter radius compensation other than that provided by the cut cycle with the offset parameters you specify.

Second, there is no one pocketing cycle that is going to work for all shapes.  Each of the cycles has different parameters to accomplish different tasks and so you must use the right tool for the job.  If you get a result that you do not like or want with one cycle, try a different cycle for the result that suits you.
