AREC Symbol Specifications

The application of a symbol onto a face of a solid has specific geometric specifications that must be followed for proper processing by AREC.

1.The geometric definition must be one of the available provided by AREC. These are defined as individual drawings in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\CIM-Tech.Com\Solid-CIM3D\Symbols folder. Each are unique and not to be altered.

2.The geometry must be projected on to a solid face in the way that none of the symbol geometry affects the outside loop of the face. It must appear totally within the face.

3.The extruded dimension into the face must be 0.01 inches ( 0.3 mm). This is a requirement. This depth of extrusion is important for AREC to determine that this is an AREC symbol and not just another solid feature.

If you decide to use the symbols instead of appearances in Autodesk Inventor, during the insert ACAD dwg process, make sure that 'Constrain End Points' check box is selected.

Note: If you apply symbols to solids and do not use AREC, then those symbols will be processed as normal features in SCIM and are not ignored.

If you apply symbols to solids and do use AREC, then those symbols will be processed by AREC as instructions only and SCIM will ignore them as normal features.
